about me

I was born near Los Angeles but grew up running barefoot in Twain Harte, California with an author/illustrator mom, a forest ranger dad, and a sister on each side. I married my high school sweetie at a ridiculously young age and together we have earned college degrees, traveled across and outside of the U.S., rescued four dogs, raised two kids, and lived in three houses on the same street in Oakland. I love growing food and flowers, cooking and feeding people, hiking, brightly colored shoes, and reading. Of course.

Fun facts about me:

• In college I lived in a geodesic dome and drove a VW bus—70s dream in the 90s!

• Jag kan prata Svenska.

• I spent a year in Sweden when I was 16.

• I learned to ski when I was 5 (but rarely do it now).

• I am the only word wrangler in a family of visual artists.

• I love parentheses (and exclamation points)!
