The first books I published were a series of board books about a cat named Bean, inspired by my sister’s feisty kitty and an impending baby. That baby has since grown into a charming young adult. And I've continued to write and publish children's books (more than 100) for kids of all ages. Besides original books, I do ghost writing, licensed writing, and writing for hire—I enjoy playing with other people’s characters almost as much as my own!

“The villain is dastardly, the heroes are staunch, and the costumes are impressive, making this high-quality standard superhero fare with the added bonus of some poignant details of how even the closest friendships may fade amid the social pressures of middle school.”

—Bulletin of the Center for Children's Books

“Tucks both middle-school fashion advice and insect facts into a tale that scuttles along to a wildly destructive climactic battle.”

When a mystery monster appears in town and seventh graders start disappearing, Bug Girl needs Emily's help more than ever. Soon both girls are tangled in a dastardly scheme—and the fate of their school, their town, and their very lives will be decided on the dance floor.

"A clever, fast-paced retelling of the voyage of the Titanic. . . . Jane pulls off the unusual feat of being both suspenseful and informative, gracefully incorporating technical details about the boat into high-drama scenes."

—New York Times Book Review

"Jane shines at atmospheric descriptions of the opulence of the ship and the people themselves while also managing to bring her powers of keen observation to the third-class passengers, many of whom were immigrant families full of hope. . . . A compelling novel that stands both on its own merit and as an addition to the wealth of Titanic literature."
